ADHD Therapy For Adults
Living with ADHD as an adult can be like trying to navigate through a maze, where every turn introduces new challenges.
ADHD in Adulthood: Navigating Daily Life
If you’ve been diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, or if you suspect you might have it but haven’t been officially diagnosed yet, you’re likely all too familiar with the daily challenges it brings. For many, finally recognising or getting an ADHD diagnosis can come as a huge relief—it’s the beginning of understanding how to manage it and move forward.
But it’s not always that simple. Often, a mix of emotions accompanies the diagnosis, and you’re not alone in feeling them. I’ve had many clients share feelings of sadness or even grief after being diagnosed. Grief for the life they think they could have lived if they had known about their ADHD sooner. You might also reflect on past struggles, maybe feeling misunderstood by others for what you now recognise as ADHD traits. Or perhaps the diagnosis helps explain impulsive or addictive behaviours you’ve battled over the years.
It’s a lot to process, and having these mixed feelings is okay.
The Power of Tailored ADHD Therapy
ADHD therapy for adults is not about a one-size-fits-all solution but about finding what uniquely works for you.
Living with adult ADHD can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when trying to manage all the different ways it shows up in your life. However, therapy offers support in navigating those daily challenges. My approach is pluralistic, meaning I draw from a range of therapeutic techniques, as I’ve found that ADHD traits vary from person to person—there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
Whether you’re exploring how you feel about your diagnosis, want to discuss how ADHD has impacted your life, or are seeking practical strategies to make things a bit easier day-to-day, therapy can help. Together, we’ll work on finding the tools that suit you, allowing you to manage your traits better and improve your overall well-being to start creating the life you deserve.
Comprehensive ADHD Therapy Services
Therapy for ADHD serves as a compass, guiding individuals toward a more fulfilling and empowered life.
Transforming Challenges into Growth
My approach to ADHD therapy is about discovering what works best for each client. Typically, I combine counselling and ADHD coaching to get the best results. ADHD coaching is about goal setting, whether career or personal goals.
You can set a goal at the beginning of therapy. However, as the sessions progress, goals can change, which is okay, too. Often, during coaching, things can show up from the past, so we can incorporate counselling if you feel this would be helpful for you.
“For an adult with ADHD, the key to success is to find the courage to be who you are. This means shaping your life to fit your impulsiveness, distractability, high energy and need to stimulation.”
